The Significance of the MICHELIN Key
The MICHELIN Key is the MICHELIN Guide's newest global accolade, created to recognise the world's most outstanding hotels with the same authority that the famed MICHELIN Star system applies to restaurants. The brand's hotel categorisation was first introduced in the first half of 2024 and is a reliable benchmark for travellers seeking exceptional experiences, assessing properties based on five universal criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, the quality and consistency of service, the overall personality and character, the value for the price, and a significant contribution to the local neighbourhood or setting.
For the international traveler, the MICHELIN Key serves as a reliable assurance of quality, guiding them to establishments that offer an outstanding level of service, design, and authentic connection to the unique culture and landscape of the Kingdom. This inaugural recognition places Saudi Arabia firmly on the map as a new global hub for luxury and experiential travel.
This distinction signifies that a hotel offers an experience that goes far beyond basic amenities, establishing a new global standard for excellence in luxury lodging.
The Keys are awarded on a three-tier system, similar to the Stars:
- One Key: A very special stay that is a true gem with personality.
- Two Keys: An exceptional stay that is unique in every way, ensuring a memorable experience.
- Three Keys: An extraordinary stay that represents the pinnacle of comfort, style, and service—one of the world's most remarkable hotels.
